MAKERS Monday: Kathrine Switzer – First Woman to Enter Boston Marathon

by Kim Tolander on December 3, 2012

Recently, I attended a reception celebrating an upcoming documentary called MAKERS: Women Who Make America. The film and the accompanying web site gives viewers exclusive access to a great group trailblazing women, some that will have familiar names and some that won’t. The project is a partnership between PBS and AOL with support from Simple Skincare Products.

Take a peek at the trailer:

At the reception, we got to hear from and meet one of the filmmakers, Dyllan McGee, and one of the Groundbreaking MAKERS, Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to enter the Boston Marathon. It was such a great night. I can’t wait for the film to debut.

The documentary is scheduled to debut on PBS Stations on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 8 PM. Seriously mark your calendars. I think this is going to be an amazing and inspirational experience. In the meantime, viewers can experience the MAKERS web site that has hours and hours of amazing video with candid moments with the MAKERS that were interviewed for the film.

Leading up to the debut, I’ll spotlight some of the MAKERS here. Today, meet Katherine Switzer. She is one spunky lady. In person, she was as delightful as you can imagine. Here is her story:

Follow MAKERS on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest to stay updated.

Disclosure: I was invited as a guest to attend a reception celebrating the film. All opinions are mine.
