Little Big Diner in Newton Center

I had the opportunity to stop by the newly opened Little Big Diner for lunch with my bloggy friends Leah’s Life, Capability Mom, and A Little Bit About A Lot of Things.

Immediate thought thinking back to the meal? Can’t wait to go back!

For a lot of reasons, but the dumplings were certainly part of it. (Check out their dumpling making on the quick.)

The restaurant only has a few tables and a counter and takes no reservations, so plan accordingly. We arrived soon after opening and snagged the last table. Even though it’s small, it’s family-friendly. Although there basically isn’t any room for storing a stroller or running around.

I ordered the forest mushroom ramen pictured below with heiwa tofu, watercress, sesame, marinated shiitakes. The noodles were perfect and the flavor and broth were perfect for a cold, winter day.

We shared a few items to get a nice sampling of the menu. Here are some of my faves.

1 – The unsweetened iced green tea was PERFECT. Can’t wait to have that again once summer arrives.
2 – Cauliflower Bahn mi.
3 – Grilled Shrimp “Salad” Buns with pressed cucumbers, lime, and mayo.
4 – Shio chicken ramen with grilled thigh, ajitama egg, shaved cabbage, funny daikon, and schmaltz.
