Drool Baby Expo Boston Presented by Magic Beans

I love Magic Beans. In fact, I loved Magic Beans way before I was a mom and way before I knew how amazing this little store really was. In case you don't know, Magic Beans is an independent baby gear and toy store with four locations in the Boston area. (Don't live in the Boston area? Shop online at mbeans.com.)

It's the best kind of mom-and-pop type store owned by Sheri and Eli Gurock, literally a mom and a pop. This is evident when you take a look at the neat products that really fit the bill. Parents know what parents (and kids) want and need. Read their story. Visit their stores. Coolidge Corner was their first store, and it's still my favorite. I dare you to go in and *not* find something you or your little one *have* to have.

Beyond my love fest for their stores, Magic Beans has now ventured into hosting an event for new parents (and soon to be parents). They are presenting a new event tomorrow evening called Drool Baby Expo at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. The event will showcase the who's who of baby product manufacturers plus there will be lots of opportunities for attendees to win prizes and go home with a great swag bag.

Mary Bauer is the President and CEO of Bratt Décor, a nursery furniture and design company. Bauer began the business in 1995, with the help of her husband, when she was expecting her first child. She was dismayed at the lack of true design choices available for nurseries and thus began Bratt Décor as a way to give moms more options. Over the years, Bauer has not only provided quality nursery pieces to moms throughout the country, but has also built an impressive list of celebrity clientele including Halle Berry, Heidi Klum and Mario Lopez. Bauer has become a revered leader in nursery design and is respected for both her style and trends. She has appeared on many television and radio shows, to give advice and tips on nursery safety and design. Bauer continues to devote herself to Bratt Décor while also attending to her role as wife and mother of two. She currently resides in Baltimore, MD with her family. Bauer is currently partnering with Playtex® to help educate moms on simple ways to create a safe, secure and stylish nursery space for their little ones.

Dr. Benjamin Tanner, President, Antimicrobial Test Labs
Benjamin Tanner holds a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona, where he studied environmentally mediated disease transmission and assessed infection risks for workers with Dr. Charles Gerba. Dr. Tanner is the founder and principal of Antimicrobial Test Laboratories, LLC, a microbiology laboratory that specializes in testing and development of disinfectant chemicals and other antimicrobial technologies. He is also the author of the book “Legal Aspects of Infectious Diseases”, and has worked extensively with the industry, academia, and government. Before launching Antimicrobial Test Labs in 2006, Dr. Tanner enjoyed years as a microbiologist with the Clorox Company. Dr. Tanner is currently partnering with Playtex® to address simple ways that moms can help to maintain a clean and germ-free nursery environment.

Osh Kosh B’Gosh Grand Opening at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree

I got a chance to visit the new Osh Kosh B'Gosh store at the South Shore Plaza for a test drive yesterday before the Big Grand Opening on Saturday. The new wing of the Mall is really great. There is a Nordstrom and a Target in the same wing as Osh Kosh... what more could a busy mom ask for?The Osh Kosh store has everything you would expect and more for sizes newborn through 12! There are the famous overalls, play clothes, dressy clothes, and more. There is a nice selection of Halloween themed clothing and dressy Holiday clothing. It's really one-stop-shopping for the Fall. Is there anything cuter than wall full of Osh Kosh baby overalls?
